Trystan Colon started seven games for the Cardinals during the 2024 season.
After starting seven games for the Cardinals in 2024, free agent offensive lineman Trystan Colon is inking a deal with the Detroit Lions. The move comes after the Lions lost All-Pro center Frank Ragnow who announced his retirement from the NFL earlier this week.
Colon spent the past two seasons with the Cardinals where he mainly held down a backup role at both guard spots. In 2023, Colon played a then-career high 322 snaps, the majority of which came at left guard. This past season, following the loss of starting guard Will Hernandez, Colon recorded a new high mark in snaps with 372. He earned a 71.0 overall season grade from Pro Football Focus, the highest of his career when playing at least 300 total snaps in a single season.
With Colon now signed elsewhere and Hernandez still on the market as a free agent, the Cardinals are poised to enter the 2025 season with at least one new starting guard. Evan Brown is slated to return as the starter at left guard while 2024 third-round pick Isaiah Adams and veteran Royce Newman (28 career starts in four NFL seasons) will likely be in the mix to start at right guard.
