Lions News: Jim Caldwell among Detroit alum at Darius Slay’s retirement party
Pride of Detroit Pride of Detroit

Earlier this offseason, former Detroit Lions second-round pick Darius Slay announced his retirement from the NFL after 13 years in the league. While he spent the final six seasons away from Detroit, the prime of his career was spent as a Lion.

Over the weekend, Slay threw a party in his home state of Georgia to commemorate his career and welcome in a bunch of old friends. Via various posts on Instagram, it almost looks like a Detroit Lions reunion party. Here’s a scattering of posts with former Lions about.

Former Lions safety Glover Quin had some of the best photos of the event. In the Instagram post embedded below, he shared photos with Slay, former Lions coach Jim Caldwell, former Lions safety Quandre Diggs, and former Lions receiver Jamal Agnew:

In case you’re wondering where each of these people are at:

  • Caldwell has spent the last three seasons as a Carolina Panthers senior assistant, but is not currently employed by an NFL team
  • Diggs returned to the Seahawks late last year as a reserve during their Super Bowl run. He is not on an NFL roster right now.
  • Agnew played 11 games with the Falcons last year, but hasn’t signed with a team for the 2026 season.
  • Quin has been retired since 2019. He currently co-hosts the Lions podcast “Bleav in Lions” with Trevor Thompson.

Additionally, former Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch was also on hand for the festivities:

Tulloch has been retired since 2017. His post-NFL life includes owning Circle House Coffee, a cafe in Fort Lauderdale.
