For many Detroit Lions fans and even players, the Super Bowl was of little interest.
In fact, linebacker Alex Anzalone and family had more important things to watch.
Running back David Montgomery simply didn’t care which team won — a sentiment shared by many Lions fans.
Meanwhile, cornerback Terrion Arnold offered some hopefully reassuring words for fans — the Lions’ time is coming.
“We’re supposed to be playing today,” he said in a TikTok video. “We’ll be there next year, for sure.”

As Kory Woods reports, MLive polled Lions fans about whether they’ve recovered from the Lions’ shocking playoff loss and who they were rooting for in the Super Bowl. My favorite answer? “I am rooting for the asteroid,” one sports fan said.
The Detroit Free Press has a similar article full of anecdotes from various types of Lions fans, including one who said: “I think this will be the first one I’ve totally tuned out. The Lions are not there. The teams who are there, I couldn’t care less if they win or lose. ... I’ll be doing laundry.” Relatable.
