Lions News: Amon-Ra St. Brown wins FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week
Pride of Detroit Pride of Detroit

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has won FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week for Week 2.

This comes after a superstar performance against the Chicago Bears. St. Brown racked up 115 receiving yards, another seven rushing, and a career-high three touchdowns.

Two winners are announced each week—Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase took home the other title. Jared Goff was also up for the award after his own career-high five touchdowns, completing 23 of 28 passes for 334 yards. Don’t weep for him though—for the fourth time since joining the Lions in 2021, Goff was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

The full list of nominees include New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson, Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, Buffalo Bills running back James Cook.

A little background if you’ve never heard of the FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week awards. Each week, six players are nominated for outstanding offensive performances. For the second year, those eligible to win have been expanded from just QBs and RBs to wide receivers and tight ends as well. Fans are able to vote for two players Monday morning to Wednesday on NFL.com or on X.

On top of the award, FedEx donates $2,000 in the names of each of the winning players to Feeding America, which goes toward a local food bank in each player’s city.

At the end of the season , there’s an ultimate award—FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year—announced at the NFL Honors ceremony in Santa Clara during the week of the Super Bowl.

  • This was super funny — Red Bull asked Amon-Ra St. Brown which of his teammates were most likely to do certain things. The number of times he threw Craig Reynolds under the bus had me howling.

  • The Detroit Lions are teaming up with the Detroit Zoo to host “Lions Day.” It’ll feature performances by the Lions cheer team and the Detroit Lions Drumline, an appearance by Roary, a special lions-themed education station, and more.

  • Another episode of the best series in town.
