The Lions fan involved in the DK Metcalf altercation is speaking out in a manner unlike any other fan has in the past.

Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver DK Metcalf took a swing at a Detroit Lions fan on Sunday. A male fan was leaning over the ledge. It wasn’t clear what led to the conversation, but Metcalf responded with a punch. It wasn’t a direct hit, but there was some contact.

The Detroit Free Press tracked down the fan in the stands, who said he was “a little shocked. Like everyone’s talking to me. I’m a little rattled, but I just want the Lions to win, baby.” He claimed at the time that he called Metcalf by his real name, which set him off.

Metcalf told former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson what happened. He stated the fan called him a racial slur and made grotesque comments about his mother. That added another wrinkle to the story. It led to the fan announcing a press conference he would hold on Friday.

Detroit Lions Fan Claims He Never Used Foul Language or Racial Slurs Towards DK Metcalf

The Lions fan who got swung on by DK Metcalf says it is really hard to get him upset. He claims that animal abuse and racism get him upset. The fan said he used no racial slurs or hate speech towards Metcalf.

To make matters worse, he then uses Metcalf’s real name to state that he should retract what he said. His family is reportedly receiving threats over it.

A split-second decision ultimately cost Metcalf so much more. The league suspended him for the rest of the regular season. The NFL upheld the suspension on Tuesday after his appeal. Metcalf will lose $555,556 for missing Pittsburgh’s final two games of the season.

The suspension also voids $45 million in guaranteed money over the next two seasons. DK’s contract states that if he fails “to practice or play with the Club for any reason,” the guarantees will be “null and void,” according to CBS Sports.
