Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested last week on a number of felony charges. He remained in custody until Monday’s pretrial hearing.
During today’s court appearance, a Hillsborough County (FL) judge ordered Arnold to be released on a $1MM bond, as first reported by MLive’s Kory Woods. Arnold will not remain in jail as a result, although he will be confined to home or work as the case plays out. Conditions include a ban on speaking with witnesses and co-defendants, but not an ankle monitor.
As ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes, Arnold will be able to participate in training camp. The status of his case will of course remain a major talking point through the summer, though. The former first-rounder is facing three counts of felony robbery, three counts of felony kidnapping, and one felony count each of conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit kidnapping stemming from an alleged revenge plot to recover stolen items in February. Arnold could face life in prison if convicted. He has denied all allegations.
The Lions have avoided comment on the Arnold case aside from noting they are aware of his arrest. The 23-year-old should be with Detroit during the summer barring any further developments in the case as it proceeds. Despite the judge finding probable cause for this case to proceed to trial, Arnold’s attorney said in a statement (h/t ESPN) the ruling “confirms that there is very little evidence to even suggest any criminal involvement by Mr. Arnold.”
Arnold was the first of two consecutive cornerbacks drafted by the Lions in 2024. The Alabama product has served as a full-time starter in the NFL, although shoulder surgery limited him to eight games last season. Arnold’s rookie contract runs through at least 2027, with a fifth-year option possible for 2028. Before a decision on that front needs to be made, all parties will hope to have further clarity regarding his criminal case.
