A massive trade proposal has the Dallas Cowboys sending All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons to the Detroit Lions in a move that would make Dan Campbell’s squad the heavy favorites to win Super Bowl 60.

On Aug. 1, Micah Parsons announced that he requested a trade from the Cowboys after unproductive extension talks with owner Jerry Jones. The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie deal and has been eligible for an extension since last year.

Though the Cowboys still have time to resolve the issue and extend Parsons long-term, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said he’s “comfortable” in reporting that the four-time Pro Bowler won’t finish his career in Dallas. So make of that as you will.

Max Dible of Heavy.com proposed a mammoth trade idea that would see Dallas sending Parsons to the Lions in exchange for veteran edge rusher Za’Darius Smith, two first-round picks and a second-rounder:

“That is an enormous amount for the Lions to surrender, but Parsons will play next season at just 24 years old and has been a Pro Bowler all four years he’s been in the NFL — not to mention an All-Pro three times and top three in Defensive Player of the Year voting on three occasions…

Given that production, he and Hutchinson would probably create the most fearsome pass-rushing duo in the entire league for at least the next five years to come — and likely longer if Detroit could keep them both around for multiple contracts.”

Any Micah Parsons trade would undoubtedly include at least two first-round picks, or else a single day-one pick and another highly impactful player. So the offer put together by Dible here seems fair for both sides.

Adding Micah Parsons Would Make Lions The Overwhelming Super Bowl Favorites

The Lions’ lack of adequate pass rushing depth was exposed when Aidan Hutchinson suffered a gruesome season-ending leg injury last year. If he were healthy, there’s no telling how far the Lions could have gone in the postseason.

Campbell’s Lions have a great mix of young and veteran talent. Since their championship window is wide-open, it makes perfect sense for GM Brad Holmes to make a blockbuster trade for a 26-year-old star who’s already on a Hall of Fame trajectory.

Parsons is a top-five defensive player in football, and Hutchinson could soon find himself in that category. They have every incentive to make a move for Parsons if Jones is willing to trade him, and adding the All-Pro linebacker would push them that much coser to their first Super Bowl.
