The amount Shannon Sharpe paid as part of his settlement with accuser Gabriella Zuniga has been disclosed, although it’s yet to be confirmed.
Sharpe, who has spent the better part of this year away from the ESPN studios following a damning rape lawsuit, opted to settle with the woman who claimed he sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.
It was expected that the settlement amount would be more than $10 million, as Zuniga had already rejected an offer to that tune, choosing to sue for $50 million instead.
Sharpe maintained his innocence, claiming he looked forward to fighting the accusations in court. But while there was court, there was no fight, as the parties came to terms on a number rumored to be $23 million.
The sum is actually more than what Shannon made playing 14 years in the NFL.
“Shannon Sharpe allegedly paid a total of $23 million to Gabby Zuniga, who recently retired from OnlyFans which was more than he made in NFL career,” The Daily Loud shared to X on Friday.
Of course, this remains a rumor for now as there are no reports confirming that Sharpe paid said amount. The only thing that has been confirmed for now is that he settled for an undisclosed amount last week and that Zuniga retired from OnlyFans shortly after.
It’s also true that the rumored figure is more than what Sharpe made playing in the NFL for 14 years.
The former tight end’s most lucrative NFL contract came in the form of a four-year deal worth $13.8 million, which he signed in 2000. His total earnings add up to 22.3 million.
Today’s elite TEs can earn close to $20 million a season, but Sharpe was quite the earner in his day.
