Former NFL running back Le’Veon Bell has claimed he once skipped a game while playing for the New York Jets to instead go bowling. According to Bell, going bowling was better than playing in an Adam Gase offense.
The New York Jets have not made the playoffs since 2010, meaning there have been plenty of dark moments over the last 15 years. There have been no worse eras, however, then the two years that head coach Adam Gase was in charge.
Not only was Gase a terrible head coach — he went 9-23 in his two seasons in the NFL and hasn’t coached in the league since — but the squard was full fo head cases like Bell, wide receiver Robby Anderson and safety Jamal Adams.
Given his behavior since retiring from the NFL, Bell was clearly the pick of the bunch, as he apparently skipped a game to instead go bowling. Bell confirmed this anecdote on Twitter, adding that bowling was better than playing for Gase.

Bell’s move to the Jets essentially marked the end of his NFL career. After holding out during the 2018 season, Bell spent 2019 as the Jets’ starter, starting in 15 games and carrying the ball 245 times for 789 yards and three touchdowns, while also catching 66 passes for 461 yards and a touchdown.
After 2019, Bell’s career fell apart. He played in two games with the Jets in 2020 before being cut and then signing with the Chiefs. He then spent 2021 with the Ravens and Bucs before retiring.
Since retiring from the NFL, Bell has had three amateur boxing matches, including one against fellow former NFL running back Adrian Peterson.
