The Steelers’ OTAs start today — what should we be watching for?

Organized team activities are finally here for the Pittsburgh Steelers. OTAs will run May 27 through June 5, with the mandatory minicamp portion running June 10-12.

This phase of the offseason is when we’ll start to get a glimpse of what the 2025 Steelers will look like — not exactly how good they’ll be in the upcoming season, but an idea of what the roster hierarchy will look like.

What’s the top storyline of Steelers OTAs?

I’m curious to see who the early frontrunners in some roster battles will be, as well as what some players returning from injury will look like in practice.

A name who fits both criteria? Steelers receiver Roman Wilson.

Wilson played all of five snaps his rookie season, with the third-rounder getting the NFL equivalent of a medical redshirt year following ankle and hamstring injuries. In a Steelers’ receiver room that’s wide open after D.K. Metcalf, Wilson could finish the offseason anywhere from bottom of the depth chart to WR2.

If Wilson is running with the first team at OTAs, that would be a great sign for his role in the offense going forward.
