Let’s talk Steelers: Can Pittsburgh hold onto the AFC North lead?
Behind the Steel Curtain Behind the Steel Curtain

What a difference a win makes. After rough pair of losses against the Bears and Bills, the Steelers bounced back on Sunday to defeat the Baltimore Ravens 27-22 on the road, rising above .500 and reclaiming the AFC North lead.

Four games remain in the regular season.

Will the Steelers hang onto their AFC North lead?

It’s a tired topic, but one that’s worth bringing up again late in the season.

As I pointed out in my postgame column, the Ravens’ end-of-season stretch looks tougher than Pittsburgh’s, and given the Steelers’ current division lead and Lamar Jackson’s ongoing injury, there’s a better chance than many seem to think that the black and gold could end up in the playoffs.

Here’s how the rest of the season shapes up:

Steelers (7-6)

  • Dolphins
  • at Lions
  • at Browns
  • Ravens

Ravens (6-7)

  • at Bengals
  • Patriots
  • at Packers
  • at Steelers

There’s not an easy game on either schedule (the Browns defense is tough and the Dolphins are on a four-game winning streak), but Baltimore has it especially tough. The Ravens have already lost to Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, and their other two matchups are against the Patriots and Packers, which are the respective No. 2 seeds in their conferences.

We haven’t seen anything to prove that the Steelers will be able to shake their playoff losing streak if they make it that far, but their odds of winning the division are shockingly high. It’s a weak year for the AFC North, and Pittsburgh might just be the best of the bunch.
