Both head coach Matt LaFleur and offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich stressed in their Sunday press conference that the left tackle position is still up for grabs for the 2025 Green Bay Packers. This was their mantra when training camp opened, but a couple of injury hiccups forced 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan to play guard earlier on in camp, only for him to be shifted to left tackle when Rasheed Walker dealt with a groin injury.

So far, Walker hasn’t been able to play a snap in the preseason, which could change next week against the Seattle Seahawks. According to LaFleur, the plan is for starters to suit up against the Seahawks in the preseason finale, which could give Walker a preseason opportunity for the first time in 2025.

Meanwhile, Morgan has made the most of his looks. While he was shaky going head-to-head with Lukas Van Ness’ strength and length on Family Night, Morgan has looked good in two preseason outings. According to Pro Football Focus, Morgan has earned an 80.2 overall grade on offense this summer, only bested by starting right tackle Zach Tom on the Packers’ offensive line. Morgan’s pass blocking grade of 91.0 is notable. Per PFF, that’s the best pass blocking grade of any tackle this preseason.

In the past, both LaFleur and Stenavich have mentioned the possibility of rotating offensive linemen during the regular season, like they did with Morgan and Sean Rhyan at right guard last year. Don’t discount the idea of something like Walker playing two-thirds of the snaps at left tackle, Rhyan playing two-thirds of the snaps at right guard and Morgan handling the rest with Aaron Banks at left guard, Elgton Jenkins at center and Tom at right tackle.

Last month, Stenavich said that the offensive line competition could go on into the regular season. At this point, we have to start believing him.
