In a recent interview, NBA superstar Lebron James was asked to give six names of NFL players he believes are “guys to watch” during the 2025 season. As he worked his way through the list, he gave names such as Texans quarterback CJ Stroud, Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, and Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton.

Finally, with his sixth and final pick, James highlighted “that receiver who was a rookie last year from the Chargers.” Of course, The King meant Ladd McConkey, the shifty and explosive wideout who set rookie franchise records for both receptions and yards while helping the Chargers to the playoffs.

“Yeah, Ladd McConkey. That’s my last one. I think he’s (going to) have a monster year.”

In his first professional season, McConkey recorded 82 receptions for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns during the regular season. In the lone playoff game against the Houston Texans, McConkey exploded for 197 yards and a touchdown on nine receptions, the former setting the all-time rookie record for receiving yards in a playoff game.

Now you don’t have to be Lebron James to see that McConkey is bound for a great season in 2025, but it’s nonetheless an extremely cool shoutout to receive!
