He’s back!
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw returned to practice today and has been designated to return from the injured reserve. This is big news for the Broncos since Greenlaw has been out since the beginning of the year and has been dealing with a nagging quad injury. The hope was that they would have him for the start of the season, but he suffered a setback, and the team decided to place him on the injured reserve, which would sideline him for at least four weeks.
Well, the four weeks are up, and Greenlaw is back on the practice field and moving around fairly well.
If Dre Greenlaw has finally put this nagging quad injury behind him and is good to go moving forward, he will be a HUGE addition to this already dominant Denver Broncos defense.
A healthy Greenlaw would give the Broncos an explosive, hard-hitting, and fierce linebacker in the middle of their defense. He has the ability to cover running backs and tight ends and would instantly improve the Broncos’ defense. Again, this is the defense that leads the NFL in sacks by 10 and held Jets quarterback Justin Fields to -10 net yards passing this past Sunday.
It remains to be seen if Greenlaw will be ready to go for this Sunday’s game vs. the Giants, but this is a very productive first step for the Broncos veteran linebacker. I would expect the Broncos to be cautious with him, considering how naggy this injury has been, but we will know more as the week progresses.
Hopefully, Greenlaw can avoid any and all setbacks moving forward, get and stay healthy, and be a dominant presence in the middle of this Denver Broncos defense.
