It’s Bills vs Chiefs again, and the matchup is as close as can be.
The Kansas Chiefs have consistently gotten the better of the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs.
The Bills are headed to Arrowhead Stadium once again for the AFC Championship Game in an attempt to exorcise some demons, and demons they have. The two-time defending champions have single-handedly helped keep the “Buffalo can’t get the job done” narrative alive over the last few years, defeating the Bills every time they’ve faced them in the playoffs during the Josh Allen era.
But NFL on Prime just casually dropped one of the most insane sports stats ever put on social media to illustrate how close the teams have truly been overall.
Both teams are 5-5 against each other, both have scored 251 points (and of course that means both have allowed 251 points).
Thanks to Matt Verderame from the Kansas City Sports Network bringing it to more public consciousness, fans can see that over the last five games, the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs are even in wins, points for, and points against. It’s been neck and neck overall, driving the point home how random the NFL can be. A bounce of the ball here, a bad call there, and a loss becomes a win and a win becomes a loss.
The Bills have been 4-1 against the Chiefs in the regular season over their last five regular season meetings. The Chiefs are 3-0 against the Bills in the playoffs. Although we can look at what’s been provided by NFL on Prime’s X account and exclaim how insane that symmetry is, ultimately getting the job done in the playoffs and coming out with a victory is what will be valued.
It’s the inverse of the Bills and Ravens. Baltimore beat Buffalo soundly in the regular season, with a 35-10 score that was paraded around social media leading up to the AFC Divisional Game. But for the second time in the last five years, the Ravens got sent packing by the Bills.
And so it goes. Bills Mafia has earned the right to talk all the smack to Ravens fans on social media the entire offseason. And unless the Bills swing that Prime graphic their way this upcoming Sunday, the Chiefs Kingdom will have another offseason of well-earned trash talk.
