I broke down the 2027 scouting classes in my early summer scouting series, and the room has a ton of potential with a long list of potential standout players. I broke down the offense and defense in articles and I suggest reading those for a broad aspect of the room.
These rankings are extremely early, and they will evolve over not only the summer but the next 8-10 months throughout the season, and into draft season. Some lists will feature 10, 15, 20, or more ranked prospects but I’ll include others on the list below to note. The Raiders likely won’t need a QB, but it’s still crucial to know the class, and the Raiders will be doing the exact same thing
- Dante Moore, Oregon – 6’3, 208, R-Jr
- Moore has the makings of a franchise quarterback, and he could have declared in 2026 but a rough end of the year likely made the decision easier to return to Oregon. He has a prototypical frame, good athleticism, works the pocket well, and Moore is great when diagnosing pre snap pressure, coverages, and he’ll use his eyes to manipulate the defense well. He shows a good ability to operate out of structure, has a ton of arm talent, drives the ball well, and overall in terms of pure traits he’s the best in the class. Like others, Moore struggles in his post snap situations, he’ll be fooled by CBs outside the numbers, he forces throws, struggles when pressured, and he needs to do better not looking for the home run throw.
- Arch Manning, Texas – 6’4, 219, Jr
- Manning has been viewed as the best QB in the 2027 class since he was a high school senior, and while he has more development to go Manning has all the traits. He’s coming off his first starting season with a 62% completion rate, 3163 yards, 26 TD, and 7 interceptions. Manning has a great frame, he’s exceptionally athletic, works the pocket well, is able to diagnose pressure, and Manning shows tremendous pre snap tendences to ID coverages, backside angles, and manipulate defenders. He needs to do better at preventing forced throws, he’s inconsistent over the middle, and Manning doesn’t catch up to his pre snap tendencies as often as you’d like. He’ll likely continue to develop, and 2027 is a big season for him to cement himself at the top of the class.
- CJ Carr, Notre Dame – 6’3, 210, R-So
- I am a bit higher on Carr here, I also think Carr has a good shot to go back to college for the 2028 class. While not related to Derek Carr, there’s a lot of similar traits as a passer. Carr has a good frame, rocket of an arm, is able to layer and manipulate throws, he’s shown good accuracy, and his entire passing form is fluid, consistent, and clean.
