The Las Vegas Raiders have brought in a Super Bowl champion to bolster the defense ahead of their preseason opener.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Las Vegas Raiders have traded cornerback Jakorian Bennett to the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV.

Bennett was a fourth-round pick of the Raiders in 2023 who spent his first two seasons in Sin City. Booker, a former star out of Stanford, was selected by the Houston Texans in round five of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Texans waived Booker ahead of the 2023 season, and he was picked up by the Eagles in 2023. Booker appeared in all 17 regular season games last season and all four postseason games, as Philly went on to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59.

Over his two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, Jakorian Bennett appeared in 24 games and recorded 11 pass breakups (including eight last season) and 58 combined tackles. He was quietly excellent in coverage for the Raiders, allowing just a 52.3 completion percentage and 67.7 passer rating when targeted, per Pro Football Reference.

The extra cornerback depth is valuable for the Eagles, who moved on from veterans Darius Slay and James Bradberry as well as safety CJ Gardner-Johnson in cap-saving moves. For the Raiders, it never hurts to add a Super Bowl champion when you’re trying to take down the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.

Las Vegas Raiders Visit Philadelphia Eagles In Week 15

Booker and Bennett won’t have to wait too long to face their former teams, as the Las Vegas Raiders are set to visit the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 15 (Dec. 14) at 1:00 p.m. EST.
