Las Vegas Raiders Making No Effort Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline

Each year, the NFL trade deadline spurs action. Sometimes it’s a team that feels like it’s one or two pieces away from competing for a playoff spot. Other times, teams admit defeat and sell off parts in an attempt to build a brighter future. Where do the Las Vegas Raiders stand?

Before Sunday’s game, where the Raiders lost in embarrassing fashion, 31-0, NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport indicated that Las Vegas wasn’t considering any trades. That includes Jakobi Meyers, who previously requested a trade from Vegas.

In fact, the Raiders haven’t placed a single phone call regarding a trade as the deadline looms.

Perhaps the Raiders’ plans will change now that they’ve sunk to a 2-5 record. Plus, as Rapoport noted, Meyers is in the final year of his contract. If he’s already indicated a desire to leave, chances of the Raiders successfully negotiating another contract with him appear slim, especially in a losing season.

For now, Meyers and the rest of the Raiders hoping the grass is greener is elsewhere are stuck right where they are. Yet, if the Raiders’ season continues to spiral out of control, Raiders general manager John Spytek would be wise to get on the phone and consider some trade offers.
