It has happened again.

The Las Vegas Raiders have fired another head coach, once again, creating more flux and change for a franchise in an never-ending cycle of organizational turnover.

This time, the franchise has fired head coach Pete Carroll after just one season with the team. He joins Antonio Pierce as Raiders’ head coaches who went one-and-done with the team.

Team owner Mark Davis and his front office will now hire a new full-time head coach for the fourth time since this team 2022.

In some ways, Carroll’s fast exit is stunning. But, the truth is, his one season in command of the Silver and Black was a disaster and an unorganized mess. The Raiders went 3-14 under Carroll, ending a 10-game losing streak Sunday in a last-second win over the Chiefs.

There was so much more expected by the team when they hired Carroll, who at 74 was the oldest head coach in NFL history, a year ago. He had a resume as a Super Bowl-winning coach and he often brought up that he was used to winning double-digits game a season and he often said in 2025 that he expected to win right away.

But it never happened and Carroll’s hand-picked quarterback Geno Smith had an awful season. Carroll showed signs of desperation as he fired both special teams coach Tom McMahon and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly in November.

Now, Carroll joins this on the ousted list and that hope for a 10-win season turned into the No. 1 overall pick in the April draft.

Now, Davis and his committee, helped led by minority team owner Tom Brady, will be looking for a head coach once again.
