After a long offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders are ready to kick off training camp. Rookies report to Raiders training camp on July 17. Five days later, veterans such as Geno Smith and others arrive.
Yet, while 90 players are set to compete for bit roles, starting jobs, and roster spots, one of the team’s athletes won’t be invited.
That’s because the Raiders released quarterback Carter Bradley on Monday, just eight days before he was set to arrive at camp.
Suddenly, the Raiders have an opening on their 90-man roster, which will surely be filled in a matter of days, if not hours.
Interestingly enough, Bradley is the son of former NFL head coach Gus Bradley, who now operates as the San Francisco 49ers’ assistant head coach. If Bradley does secure another roster spot, his opportunity could come quickly for the Niners.
The 25-year-old QB joined the Raiders as an undrafted free agent last offseason after splitting time at Toledo and South Alabama. While he spent the bulk of the regular season on the Raiders’ practice squad, now Bradley needs to prove himself all over again, likely in a new city.
