The 2-5 Las Vegas Raiders aren’t just bad. Usually, having an All-Pro player like Maxx Crosby can help spearhead a strong effort on one side of the ball. But in this case, the 2025 Raiders can’t do anything right, on offense or defense.
Losers of five of their past six games, the latest Raiders trade rumors focus on whether Las Vegas would ship Crosby, who’s arguably their best player, to a contender. However, despite several teams expressing interest, a Crosby trade does not appear to be in the cards.
Instead, as NFL Network’s insider Tom Pelissero reports, the Raiders have conducted a meeting with Crosby, just to let the 28-year-old know that he won’t be getting traded.
Nobody wants to win more than Maxx Crosby, and he wants to do it with the #Raiders. Despite various rumors with the trade deadline 2 weeks away, the face of the franchise isn't leaving Las Vegas. https://t.co/k3zAQ4GP8V

After all, it wouldn’t make sense for the Raiders to hire Pete Carroll, who’s the NFL’s oldest head coach at the age of 74, then turn around and trade a franchise cornerstone. That would be an immediate step in the wrong direction.
There’s a reason the Raiders did what they did this past offseason, moving on from one of the NFL’s most inexperienced head coaches in exchange for one of the most seasoned. They also traded for a Pro Bowl quarterback in Geno Smith, hoping he could help spark an offense that hasn’t ranked in the top ten of scoring since 2020, when Jon Gruden and Derek Carr were calling the shots.
Unfortunately, none of what the Raiders did this past offseason seems to be paying off (aside from drafting Ashton Jeanty). Smith has been one of the NFL’s worst quarterbacks, and this team still looks like it’s at least a year away from contention.
