Silver And Black Pride
The Las Vegas Raiders continue to request interviews for the coaching opening left by the firing of Pete Carroll. They have have requested interviews with Vance Joseph, Klint Kubiak, Davis Webb, Matt Nagy, Kevin Stefanski, Jeff Hafley, and now Nate Scheelhaase.
Let’s get to know Hafley some more:
Current job:
Scheelhaase has been the Rams passing game coordinator since 2025.
Age:
He is 35 years old.
Coaching experience:
Scheelhaase has just 2 years NFL coaching experience after spending 2015-2017 with the University of Illinois, and then 2018-2023 as the Iowa State RB & WR coach along with one season as their offensive coordinator.
Other interest:
Scheelhaase is slated to interview with the Cleveland Browns as well who requested to interview him Sunday morning giving just two of eight teams with head coach openings wanting to talk to Scheelhaase.
Why the Raiders are interested:
In his first season as the Rams pass game coordinator, Scheelhaase’s unit ranked 1st in yards, touchdowns, and 2nd in first downs. In college, Scheelhaase was crucial in the recruitment and development of Ke’Sahwn Vaughn, Hakeem Butler, David Montgomery, Brock Purdy, Charlie Kolar, Breece Hall, Jaylin Noel, and Jayden Higgins. Scheelhaase interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2025 for their offensive coordinator openings and while Scheelhaase has strong coaching experience his two years of NFL experience likely limit him as a true head coach candidate and indicate he’s more likely being interviewed as initial offensive coordinator looks get underway along with head coaching interviews.
