Silver And Black Pride
The Las Vegas Raiders continue to request interviews for the coaching opening left by the firing of Pete Carroll. They have have requested interviews with Vance Joseph, Klint Kubiak, Davis Webb, Matt Nagy, Kevin Stefanski , Jeff Hafley, Nate Scheelhaase, Mike LaFleur, Chris Shula, and now Ejiro Evero.
Letβs get to know Evero some more:
Current job:
Evero has served as the Panthers defensive coordinator since 2023.
Age:
He is 45 years old
Coaching experience:
Evero has 17 years of NFL experience starting as a quality control coach with the Buccaneers in 2007-2009 before serving in the same role with the 49ers in 2011. He transitioned to an assistant role in 2012-2015 and then was named the Packers quality control coach in 2016. Evero joined the Rams as their safeties coach in 2017-2020 which saw notable standouts Lamarcus Joyner, John Johnson, Nickell Robey-Coleman, Taylor Rapp, and Jordan Fuller. He then served as the secondary coach in 2021 before being hired as the Broncos defensive coordinator in 2022 and then the Panthers defensive coordinator in 2023.
Other interest:
Evero has only been requested to interview with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Why the Raiders are interested:
Evero has served as a quality defensive coordinator for four seasons though his teams production has gone downhill with Carolina. Evero spent the start of his career with UC Davis and also spent one season with the Raiders as a safety. Evero has held a 7th, 4th, 32nd, and 16th ranked defense in his career and his units have struggled vs the run as well ranking 10th, 23rd, 32nd, and 20th. Evero does bring a quality culture and track record of developing defensive backs and pass rushers. Overall, Evero has had good interest in the past but recently his units performance likely pushes him out of top contention.
