Silver And Black Pride Silver And Black Pride

The Las Vegas Raiders continue to request interviews for the coaching opening left by the firing of Pete Carroll. They have have requested interviews with Vance Joseph, Klint Kubiak, Davis Webb, Matt Nagy, Kevin Stefanski , Jeff Hafley, Nate Scheelhaase, Mike LaFleur, and now Chris Shula

Let’s get to know Shula some more:

Current job:

Shula has been the defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams since 2024.

Age:

He is 39 years old

Coaching experience:

Shula has over 10 years of NFL coaching experience serving with the Chargers in 2015-2016 and the Rams since then. Prior to the NFL, Shula spent time as a LB coach with Ball State, Indiana, and John Carroll. With the Rams Shula has served as a LB coach from 2017-2021, DB coach in 2022, pass rush coach in 2023, and defensive coordinator since then.

Other interest:

Shula has received requests from the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, and Miami Dolphins bringing 6 of 8 open head coach opportunities to have interest in Shula for this off-season’s cycle.

Why the Raiders are interested:

Shula has produced top talent since joining the Rams seeing their defensive have consistently high linebacker play along with pass rush, a role Shula has held since 2022 to help coordinate the Rams pass rush efforts. The Raiders have taken an offensive minded approach to their head coaching search and are casting a wide net including now defensive minded players. In his two seasons as defensive coordinator, the Rams have ranked 17th and 10th in total defense along with 18th and 7th in sacks. The Rams defense has done a strong job developing talent on all three phases and have consistently seen rookie draft picks play to a high level. The Raiders have struggled to find consistency on defense and Shula’s unit could help to bring that.
