While they’re still on track to finish with a better record than last year, the Las Vegas Raiders aren’t satisfied with their 2-5 start. Defensively, the Raiders are allowing 25.7 points per game, good for 23rd in the NFL. Offensively, the Raiders are in an even tougher spot, averaging just 14.7 points per game, ranking 31st in the NFL.

Yet, some help is on the way.

On Monday, the Raiders announced that they’ve signed one-time All-Pro/Pro Bowl receiver Tyler Lockett to a one-year contract. The move reunites Lockett, a member of the Seattle Seahawks for 10 seasons, with head coach Pete Carroll.

Since the Raiders needed a roster spot to add Lockett, Las Vegas waived receiver Justin Shorter to create space for his replacement. Shorter had appeared in all seven of the Raiders’ games this season, but he’d only appeared in five snaps offensively and 81 more on special teams.

Lockett started the season with the Tennessee Titans, but they granted his release on Oct. 20th after he requested a ticket out of town. Lockett was only targeted 21 times in Tennessee. He ended up hauling in ten receptions for 70 yards and no touchdowns.

He won’t receive a guaranteed role in Las Vegas either, but at least now he knows he’s playing for a coaching staff that already knows what he can bring to the table. Perhaps Lockett will have more success with his new team, but the 33-year-old will still need some time to get reintegrated back into Chip Kelly’s offense.
