Lane Johnson is out 4-6 weeks with a Lisfranc injury that took him out of Sunday night’s win against the Detroit Lions.
If the timeline checks out, he could return for the Buffalo road trip or Washington season finale, depending on what the Birds’ record looks like. Ideally, he gets back to full health, the Commie game is meaningless in the standings, and they save Lane for the playoffs.
According to Pro Football Reference, Johnson has only played 450 snaps this season, which amounts to 73.9% of the offensive totals. He’s started all 10 games but had to come out of five of them:

Lane Johnson is “the new Jason Peters,” or something along those lines, based on the frequency in which he’s had to exit games. His replacement, Fred Johnson, has played 181 snaps and is on pace for a career high if he starts and finishes these seven final games. It’s a good thing that Howie Roseman brought him back when he had the chance, because his services have been required, and he’s deputized well as the other Johnson playing tackle.
But the real question is whether or not the Jason Peters comparisons are fair to Lane Johnson. Some fans are finding this to be insulting, perhaps derogatory, but there’s nothing inherently negative in pointing out that Lane has had to come out of half of the games this season. He’s 35 years old, he’s been soldiering on since 2013, and his body has taken a beating in more than a decade of Eagles football. Think about how many run blocking snaps he got in 2024 en route to Saquon Barkley’s historic season. These guys got barely five months off before they were back in camp and preparing for a new season,...
