Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson suffered a concerning-looking right/hand injury in Wednesday’s practice that bears watching.

Per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Lamar Jackson left practice after suffering what looked like a right wrist/hand injury. Hensley stated that Jackson stuck around for a few plays after getting knocked down, only to leave roughly 90 minutes into practice.

With the regular season less than three weeks away, this is something to monitor. The two-time MVP missed nine games (including the postseason) over the 2021 and 2022 seasons due to injury, and the Ravens offense struggled mightily without him.

The Ravens have already been hit hard with one brutal offseason injury, with rookie cornerback Bilhal Kone suffering season-ending ACL and MCL tears in the preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts. They certainly can’t afford to lose Jackson for an extended period of time, either.

A week earlier, standout tight end Isaiah Likely suffered a foot injury in practice and required surgery. His status for Week 1 is unknown, per Ryan Mink of the Ravens’ official team website.

Lamar Jackson & Ravens Look To Finally Break Through In 2025

After controversially finishing second in MVP voting last year behind Josh Allen, the man who eliminated the Ravens in last year’s Divisional Round, Jackson will get an early shot at revenge when Baltimore takes on the Buffalo Bills in the Sept. 7 Week 1 opener.

Lamar Jackson and the Ravens have been a model of consistency in the regular season since his 2018 rookie year, winning double-digit games six times and 12-plus games three times. Despite all that dominance, however, Jackson has just three playoff victories on his resume.

Baltimore narrowly lost 17-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 AFC Championship Game, and then 27-25 to the Bills in the Divisional Round after Mark Andrews dropped a late game-tying two-point conversion attempt.

Of course, other great quarterbacks like Peyton Manning, John Elway and Matthew Stafford had to wait longer than usual to taste championship glory. Time is on Jackson’s side, and perhaps 2025 is the year it finally comes together.
