L.A. Rams News: McVay’s not on the hotseat, right?
Turf Show Times Turf Show Times

I am basically as certain as anyone can be certain that Sean McVay is NOT on any type of hotseat, and he has one of the safest jobs you can have in the NFL. However, am I wrong? After seeing John Harbaugh lose his position, it’s a good reminder that no job in the NFL is as safe as we may think it is.

Ravens fire John Harbaugh, ending NFL’s second-longest coaching tenure (usatoday)

“The decision comes in the aftermath of Sunday’s season-ending loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who recaptured the lead in the final minute and then watched as Ravens rookie kicker Tyler Loop missed what would have been a game-winning 44-yard field goal as time expired. The loss not only sealed the AFC North title for the Steelers but also dropped Baltimore out of the playoffs with an 8-9 mark, just the third losing season of Harbaugh’s entire career.“

Every situation is different, and yes, I am trying to capitalize on the firing of Harbaugh for today’s Random Ramsdom, but I also thought it made for a good topic!

Enjoy your Wednesday, and get ready for some Saturday football between the Los Angeles Rams and the Caralina Panthers. Who knows, it could be the end of L.A.’s season, or the start of something special.

Why Peyton Manning says he’d have loved to play for Sean McVay (ramswire)

“So when ESPN’s Kevin Clark asked legendary quarterback Peyton Manning which current head coach in the playoffs he’d like to play for, Manning quickly picked McVay.

“I like the way Sean is accountable each week. If it doesn’t go well, he gets up there and owns it,” Manning said. “I never see him blaming a player. He starts with himself. And I like that in a coach. And even though as a player, I always said it’s not the coach’s fault —we need to play better. But when your coach is up there taking that, I think your players play harder for you.”

When can Rams assistants interview for head coaching jobs? (ramswire)

“But with the Rams currently in the playoffs, there are strict rules laid out by the NFL for when a team can interview a prospective head coach that’s employed by a team competing for a Super Bowl.

For one, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero explained on X, no coach currently employed by an NFL team can interview for a head coaching job in person until Jan. 19. That’s the week between the division round and the conference championship games.“
