Kyle Brandt, one of the hosts of Good Morning Football on NFL Network, has been attending Super Bowls as a member of the media for years. So he has a pretty good grasp of what to expect during the days leading up to the big game.
Brandt, who got his start in sports media as a writer and producer for The Jim Rome Show in 2007, has been solely focused on the NFL since joining the league’s network in 2016. So now, in his 10th year working for the league, he has gotten at least one conversation that he knows every member of the media will have every year at the Super Bowl.
“If you are a media member already in New Orleans, or one that’s going, I just want to touch base with you about this,” Kyle Brandt explained on Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning Football. “This is how every single conversation goes between media members during Super Bowl week.
“It consists of three questions. You’re going to be standing at a party. You’re going to have a drink. You’re going to have some sort of bracelet on. And you’re talking to someone you don’t really know, but you kind of know them from social media. And the whole time you’re talking to them they’re kind of looking around the room, and so are you. But you guys will exchange three questions in that social exchange.
“Question number one: ‘When did you get in?’ And if they say, ‘Oh, just today.’ You go, ‘Oh yeah, nice. End of the week. That makes sense. Save money, more time at home with the fam.’ But if they say, ‘Been here since Monday,’ you say, ‘Woah. Long haul, been there man. Bet you can’t wait to get home, right?’
“Question number two: ‘Where are you staying?’ And they’re going to say the Hyatt or the Hilton and you just go, ‘Nice. Nice.’ Or you can say, ‘Whoa, wow! High roller! Must be nice for you.’
“And the third question, they all must be asked in every exchange, question number three: ‘You staying for the game?’ And if they say yes, you say, ‘Nice, nice. I just hope it’s close.’ But if they say, ‘No, I’m actually going to go home on Saturday morning,’ you say, ‘Yep, see. That’s the way to play it man. You get home on your couch, that’s a veteran move right there. You know how to play it.
“And then you end the whole exchange by saying, ‘We should catch up man.’ Which you just did!”
Apparently, based on the responses to his speech, Kyle Brandt hit the nail on the head.
Yep I've had this conversation so many times lol https://t.co/G3rNlJxHjD

“If there’s anything ‘scripted’ at the Super Bowl, this is it,” Andrew Siciliano replied. “Nailed it, @KyleBrandt.”
“I’ve had 17 of these so far,” Ross Tucker commented. “If one or both have a show you say, ‘Gotta get...
