Keys to a Bears Victory: Holiday edition

The Bears host the Lions Sunday but our crew is doing some holiday shopping for the Bears.

With the Chicago Bears already looking like they’ve packed it in for the season, it seemed silly to have regular keys to the game.

We all know that the Bears are going to be mismatched against the Detroit Lions. Despite their injuries, the Lions are finishing a historic season and have one of the best offenses in the league.

The keys to the actual game are stopping the run, protecting Caleb Williams and getting the run going to set up Williams’ pass game.

But anyway, it’s the holidays.

So we thought we would do some holiday shopping for the Chicago Bears.

What is a Christmas gift you would give to the Bears? It could be for the front office, the locker room, other fans. Anything.

Here’s what everyone said.

Sam: If I were buying a gift for the Chicago Bears, I would give Kevin Warren the gift of patience. Too frequently we’ve seen this team go out-of-order for hiring cycles, be proud of their process, the miles they covered, and the number of interviews they conducted, but end up with the same results. Other teams settle their process more slowly and more effectively. I would want Warren to approach this process cautiously and deliberately, thinking that going slower to find the right candidate is best, even if it means dragging it out until February.

Mason: My gift to the Bears would be the full Wizard of Oz treatment: a Heart, a Brain, and some Courage.

Heart- There is passion in the front office of Halas Hall. I know people will disagree but George cares. Poles does too. I think Warren does but he has too much politician speak for me to be sure. That being said, it isn’t the same kind of passion and heart as say the Lions. Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes eat, drink, and sleep football. They had a chip on their shoulder because of the naysayers and how much they care for their team. They truly made a culture and ooze it. Not just “bring in guys from IL who had Urlacher jerseys”. They got guys with nasty and want to prove every snap that they are the best at their position. That is the kind of heart I mean.

Brain- Often the Bears make decisions that aren't based on logic. I liked the idea of the hiring committee from 2022. I did not like who they got to spearhead the decision. An old Bill Polian out of touch with modern NFL football (*cough* Lamar Jackson comments) should not be in charge of the decision. They are already off to a rough start with question marks WHO is making this decision. Will it be Poles? Warren? Will Poles be here? Let logic and reason prevail. Act like the Eagles....the Chiefs....the Vikings.......

Courage- Make the hard decision. Be willing to be uncomfortable. Be willing to break the status quo. The...
