Key Stats From Dallas Cowboys’ 40-40 Tie with Green Bay Packers

Many felt like the Green Bay Packers had a better team than the Dallas Cowboys before their Week 4 matchup on Sunday Night Football. Considering they entered with a 2-1 record, and the Cowboys started at 1-2, that perception felt accurate. Yet, after the teams tied at 40 points apiece after going to overtime, it’s hard to say which one is better.

As much as both sides tried to downplay it, this was going to be known as the Micah Parsons Bowl. Which team looks like they got the better end of the deal in the first game since the Parsons trade? Since that answer is to be determined, let’s examine a few key stats from Sunday night’s Packers vs Cowboys game.

4.7 – Packers’ Yards Per Carry

In part of the aftermath following the Micah Parsons trade, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stressed the importance of stopping the run. Well, the Cowboys won this individual matchup, but not by much. Yet, the Packers came into the game averaging the fifth-fewest yards per carry at 3.4. So the Packers did much better against the Cowboys than they’ve averaged thus far.

1 – Sack by Micah Parsons

He came close to missing out, but Micah Parsons managed to get Dak Prescott sacked just barely behind the line of scrimmage in overtime. He may have saved a touchdown in the process. In addition to the sack, Parsons also tacked on three tackles and three QB hits. Yet it didn’t matter, the Cowboys got the win, so Jerry Jones gets the last laugh, for now.

3 – Romeo Doubs Touchdowns

Romeo Doubs was targeted a team-high seven times, and he hauled in five of them. The most impressive part was that three of his catches went for touchdowns. Doubs didn’t have a ton of yardage, just 52, but he made his catches count.

134 – George Pickens Receiving Yards

The Cowboys didn’t need CeeDee Lamb today, because George Pickens put his cape on and looked like a bona fide No. 1 receiver. Pickens has been with the Cowboys for just four games, but he just recorded the second-highest receiving yardage total of his career. Recording 134 yards on eight receptions is a great way to earn more trust from your quarterback. Don’t be surprised if Pickens maintains his momentum throughout the season.
