While the team doesn’t seem particularly worried about it, the Dallas Cowboys are currently trying to get Micah Parsons signed to a long-term contract extension. Parsons is currently entering the final year of his rookie contract, but he’s in line for a significant raise over the $24 million he’s set to earn in 2025.
The NFL’s highest-paid defender is Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns, who signed a four-year, $160 million contract in March. Parsons has compiled 52.5 sacks since entering the league as the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, Garrett has tallied 60 in the past four seasons, putting them on a similar track.
However, now it’s Parsons’ turn to get paid. Until they do so, there will be rumors about Parsons’ future in Dallas.
Recently, NBA superstar Kevin Durant, who’s a D.C. native who just got traded to the Houston Rockets, chimed in on Parsons’ future in Texas. Specifically, Durant believes Parsons will eventually join the Washington Commanders, the Cowboys’ division rival, in two years.
Kevin Durant says Micah Parsons will be a Washington Commander at some point in his career.
Kay Adams: "When?"
Durant: "I will say two years from now."
Parsons: "Yo, I only rock with Dan Quinn."
Durant: "Exactly. That's all ya need to rock with!"

On the surface, Durant’s claim seems ridiculous. Yet, as Parsons points out, he has a lot of respect for Washington’s head coach, Dan Quinn, meaning, a lot of crazier things have happened.
