Has Matthew Stafford played his final game as the quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams? If you ask his wife Kelly, it’s a distinct possibility. The famous WAG turned podcaster said on the most recent episode of The Morning After podcast that she’s preparing for a potential trade.
Stafford led the Rams to another NFC West title and nearly led them to the NFC Championship Game, falling just short of an upset of the Philadelphia Eagles. But Los Angeles recently informed star wide receiver Cooper Kupp that they would be moving on from in the offseason, and Stafford’s wife believes that means they could well move on from his as well.
“My husband, like wants to win. He’s not gonna, he’s not trying to put a team in a bad situation. If you’re catching my drift, you’re catching my drift. I will say that the trading away of Cooper, I guess I’m just a little — I’m confused,” she said. “Because we were one play away from going to the NFC Championship. And I think if we go, we win. I have to be the dog in this situation being like I want the respect for him that he deserves. Yes, I love the city of LA. I love the city of LA. With that being said, I love an adventure.”
She also said that while it would be “convenient” to stay in LA, she values being respected more than she values convenience.
It’s not the first time that Kelly Stafford has caused headaches for her husband at work. In fact, it’s become a quite regular ordeal. Before the 2023 season, she went on her podcast and discussed how Matthew was struggling to connect with his younger teammates.
She later walked back the comments and revealed that Matthew needed to then talk to his teammates to ensure that wasn’t what she meant.
We’re certainly not experts. But I’m guessing that Matthew Stafford doesn’t want his wife acting his agent on a public forum, either. Who knows? Maybe that’s just how they roll. But it’s certainly not making his life any easier.
