There wasn’t much that went right for the New England Patriots in their 20-13 loss against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. However, one guy who managed to turn in a standout performance was wide receiver Kayshon Boutte.

With several new faces in Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams and Efton Chism III making up New England’s wide receiver room, the hope was that they could help elevate the Pats offense to a new level in 2025.

Instead, it was Boutte who paced the Patriots’ pass-catchers with six receptions for a game-high 103 yards. Boutte was on the same page with quarterback Drake Maye all day long, frequently finding areas of space in the Raiders’ zone coverages.

Seeing Boutte be more productive than guys like Diggs, Demario Douglas and Hunter Henry was a bit surprising for fans. However, Boutte doesn’t think it should be all that surprising, as he provided a quick reminder of his talent on Monday.

“I think people fail to realize that at one point in time I was a first-round pick,” Boutte said when speaking on his big game for New England.

Early in his college career with the LSU Tigers, Boutte appeared to be on his way to becoming a first-round talent. A slew of off-field issues resulted in him falling to the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

While the addition of several new weapons on offense may not have led to a win, it did open up space for Boutte to work with in the passing game. Now, the rest of the team will be looking to reach the same heights he hit in Week 1 when they take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 2.
