The latest Bears Banter has dropped!

The Chicago Bears are less than a week from kicking off their 2025 regular season on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings, and to get you set for this one, we are joined by David Kaplan from ESPN 1000.

The long-time Chicago media standout discussed a variety of topics about the Chicago Bears, from Ben Johnson to Caleb Williams to Dennis Allen’s defense.

One thing that really stood out from Kaplan’s answer was his excitement for Ben Johnson compared to other hires the Bears have made throughout his career.

“This is as good as it gets,” Kaplan stated. “When they hired John Fox, I called him the golden parachute. He was an older coach getting one more payday day so that didn’t really do it for me. When they hired Lovie, that was a good hire, but I like a more passionate, more vibrant, more charismatic coach, but he was a really good football coach, so that one worked out. When they hired Marc Trestman, I thought it was an absolute joke. I had to interview him the day he got hired, and I’m like, ”This is our coach?“ Hope you guys know what you’re doing. Matt Nagy, it was fine, came from the Chiefs, whatever. The Eberflus hire? Not my cup of tea. Sure, he’s a good person, great husband, great father, he knows his Xs and Os, but that vanilla ”I gotta check the tape,“ ”we just need to execute better,“ that’s not me, and that’s not my kind of coach. This dude? This guy is all about ball, but he is honest.”

It’s a great podcast that you’ll want to make sure you check out!
