After losing out on their bid to become the first team to threepeat as Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs knew exactly what areas of the roster they needed to address this offseason. Naturally, after seeing Patrick Mahomes take six sacks in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, it’s no surprise that Kansas City made changes to the offensive line.

While they surprisingly traded All-Pro guard turned emergency tackle Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears, the Chiefs didn’t stop there. They also selected former Ohio State Buckeyes offensive tackle Josh Simmons in the first round.

Now, one of the Chiefs’ existing starters along the offensive line is being projected by NFL insider Adam Silver to lose his starting role. Specifically, Jawaan Taylor, whom the Chiefs signed to a four-year, $80 million contract last offseason.

However, after Taylor committed 17 penalties and allowed seven sacks, it was time to consider changes to the lineup. Meanwhile, if the Chiefs already like what they see from Simmons, it makes sense to take a chance on the first-round rookie’s high upside over a struggling player like Taylor.
