One passionate Kansas City Chiefs fan isn’t taking the team’s pending move to Kansas well, to say the very least.
Yesterday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that their plans to leave Missouri. According to reports, they’ll instead move into a $3 billion domed stadium in the state of Kansas, which is set to open in 2031.
Of course, the “relocation” is hardly as devastating as the St. Louis Rams’ move to Los Angeles in 2016. Or the San Diego Chargers’ relocation to LA in 2017. Or the Oakland Raiders’ move to Las Vegas in 2020.
The Chiefs’ new stadium will be in Wyandotte County, Kansas. It’s roughly 12.5 miles away from Kansas City, Missouri, or about a 20-minute drive. Still, the move left at least one Chiefs fan in an angry mood before Christmas.
Appearing on Carrington Harrison’s “The Drive” program on 96.5 The Fan in Kansas City, one furious caller let loose his emotions about the pending move. The angry caller specifically ridiculed Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas (via the Daily Mail):
“Lucas, you are no longer mayor of nothing! You are just Lucas. And as far as I am concerned, Lucas and White you are on the list. It’s the Lucas and White list. Two losers is what you are. You let Missouri down today…Lucas, (former Jackson County Executive Frank White) White, don’t let me catch you outside after dark ’cause we will not be held responsible for what will be done for y’all.
“Let me tell you something, all of y’all should turn in your resignation effectively immediately. You shouldn’t be allowed to run for dogsh*t or any office in this state or any other state for that matter. And Lucas, I’ll vote for anybody who ever runs against you because you are a liar, you don’t have integrity.
You knew that game was over, the jig was up. Yet, you come on national TV or radio, insulting everyone’s intelligence. Y’all ought to be ashamed of yourselves. That’s why I don’t like politicians ’cause you’re a bunch of liars.”

The Kansas City Chiefs’ new stadium will have at least 65,000 seats. Their current venue, Arrowhead Stadium, has a capacity of 76,416.
Without question, the 2025 season will go down as the most disappointing in the history of this proud AFC franchise.
The Chiefs’ loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday dropped them to 6-9, clinching the franchise’s first losing season since 2012. They’ll also miss out on the playoffs for the first time since 2014. And the AFC Championship Game will not feature Andy Reid’s squad for the first time since 2017.
