Crossing Broad
A Crossing Broad reader sent us a Tuesday night photo from the Linc, saying that at some point during or after the Chelsea vs. Esperance Club World Cup game, Reggie White’s life-sized bobblehead figure on the Pepsi Plaza was damaged:
Apparently the bobblehead was put here in 2023, when the stadium underwent a throwback transformation to coincide with the kelly green game against the Miami Dolphins. They smoked the Fins by two touchdowns that night, pre-2023 meltdown.
The head is massive, just comically oversized for the body, so it shouldn’t be hard to find. Maybe they already did find it, or maybe not. FIFA hasn’t returned our last email about the flares, so they probably won’t respond to a follow up email either. Which means we’ll have to do this the old-fashioned way. If you saw anything or you know who the perpetrator is, you can email me at [email protected] with information. Totally confidential. We need to find the culprit, because it’s disrespectful to the Minister of Defense. Would we go to London and remove the head from a John Terry statue? No. Would we go to Tunis or Sfax and damage a statue of a sporting hero? No. We need justice for Reggie’s bobblehead.
(My conspiracy theory is that there was a Giants, Cowboys, or Commies fan among the visiting Chelsea supporters, and they are responsible)
