Julian Edelman spent his entire NFL career with the New England Patriots. However, if he were to come out of retirement and play again, he would choose a different organization.
Edelman was asked on his podcast, “Games With Names,” which team he would choose to play for and why.
“I would want to play for a good quarterback and a good team,” Edelman said Wednesday. “I wouldn’t mind playing for the Los Angeles Chargers. They’re young, have something good going, and it would be great to have a daily life at that Chargers facility. Knowing how NFL life is, that would be a cool place to play.”
Edelman hasn’t stepped on an NFL field since 2020, so he won’t be coming out of retirement anytime soon. However, if an unexpected opportunity happened and he chose to put his helmet back on, it would be fascinating to see him in the Chargers’ offense.
Los Angeles wide receiver Ladd McConkey has drawn comparisons to Edelman due to similarities in height, weight, route running and toughness. McConkey is just in his second NFL season, so Edelman could serve as his mentor.
If McConkey can excel in the Chargers’ offense, Edelman, a three-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl LIII MVP, would thrive in the same system.
