Julian Edelman is sold on TreVeyon Henderson.
Selected 38th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Henderson has drawn rave reviews throughout New England Patriots training camp. The ultra-fast running back appears primed for a large role in Josh McDaniels’ offense as the primary receiving back.
During a recent appearance on Tom E. Curran’s “Patriots Talk” podcast, Edelman suggested Henderson could go down as one of the best picks from this year’s draft.
“TreVeyon Henderson’s probably the steal of the draft,” Edelman said before referencing 2018 first-rounder Sony Michel, who disappointed across three seasons with the Pariots. ” … I think that’s the kind of guy you needed to draft that becomes part of that nucleus with Drake (Maye). That’s how you build your team. You build your team through the draft.”
Edelman isn’t alone in praising Henderson, who’s become the Patriots’ breakout star of the summer. To Henderson’s credit, he’s not letting the positive buzz go to his head.
“I don’t really pay attention to all the social media stuff,” Henderson told reporters on Tuesday. “The biggest thing I know, people praise me now because I have this success. But I feel like it doesn’t come from true love. At the same time, people see me as a football player, so if things come crashing down, I know that love turns into hate.”
New England will wrap up its preseason slate Thursday night when it visits the New York Giants. After that, the Patriots will begin preparations for their Sept. 7 season opener against the Las Vegas Raiders at Gillette Stadium.
