Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers often find themselves in conversations comparing the two quarterbacks.
The comparisons really should end as Brady has won seven Super Bowls to Rodgers’ one. However, some would still choose Rodgers over Brady.
Former New England Patriots legend Julian Edelman believes the two’s handling of their final NFL season is what separates them.
“You can’t even put those guys in the same sentence, because we didn’t know it was Tom Brady’s last year,” Edelman said during a recent appearance on “The Herd With Colin Cowherd.”
“When it was (Brady’s) last year, he didn’t want the distraction of that. He wanted to go out and play his best possible football that he could play the last year of his career without making it a distraction. Now, we know it’s (Rodgers’) last year — we’ve heard that before.”
Aaron Rodgers recently told “The Pat McAfee Show” that the 2025 season was likely his last, and that’s why he signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“This was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had. I’ve played 20 freaking years,” Rodgers said. “It’s been a long run and I’ve enjoyed it.
“What better place to finish than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL?”
Brady, meanwhile, retired for 40 days in 2022 before he declared he would return for the 2023 season.
Many always assumed that the 2023 season would be his last, but he would never confirm until after the year was over.
New England Patriots legend Julian Edelman had a lot to say about Aaron Rodgers joining the Pittsburgh Steelers on his NFL farewell tour. He acknowledged that the move is great for both the Steelers and the entire league.
“I think it’s going to be an exciting season. I mean, they’re bringing one of the greatest quarterbacks of our generation into a cornerstone franchise with the Steelers,” said Edelman, when appearing on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
However, Edelman stopped short of calling them A super Bowl team.
“I’m going to watch every game. I can’t wait to see it. It’s a great move. It’s great for the league. But do I think they’re going to the Super Bowl? No.”
Along with signing Rodgers, the team recently pulled off a blockbuster trade that included sending a 2027 draft pick and five-time Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins for tight end Jonnu Smith, cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and a 2027 draft pick.
The franchise still has to find the best contract to sign T.J. Watt to, but once that is complete, Aaron Rodgers just might have all of the tools to take this team far.
