The New England Patriots put away the Cleveland Browns in Week 8 with a 32-13 victory, pushing their record to 6-2 on the season. The final blow came in the third quarter when Kayshon Boutte hauled in a 39-yard touchdown pass from Drake Maye, and it led to a big reaction from offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on the sidelines.
Boutte has been one of the biggest success stories in New England this season. He has quickly turned himself into Maye’s top deep threat, and the pair have frequently linked up on big plays through eight games. So far this year, Boutte has 23 catches for 431 yards and five touchdowns.
Against the Browns, Boutte caught three passes for 75 yards and a score, with his biggest play being his aforementioned touchdown that effectively ended the game. McDaniels was particularly fired up about this play for New England, and his reaction to the play quickly went viral on social media.
“You know what that was? Details,” McDaniels said to Boutte after his latest big touchdown. “You f***ing got him to turn around because you attacked it. It was perfect.”
McDaniels’ impact on the Patriots’ offense has been one of the overlooked storylines so far in the 2025 campaign. He has helped get this unit back on track, thanks in large part to their dominant passing attack. Of course, having guys like Boutte who turn into breakout stars along the way certainly helps, too.
With Boutte continuing to make big plays, you can bet that McDaniels is going to keep on drawing up plays for him, in the hopes that it leads to more touchdowns. New England will look to continue its winning ways when it takes on the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9.
