Green Bay Packers star running back Josh Jacobs went into great detail about his relationship with former Alabama Crimson Tide and Las Vegas Raiders teammate Henry Ruggs.
And in a startling reveal, Josh Jacobs said that he could have been involved in Ruggs’ car accident that tragically claimed the life of Tina Tintor on Nov. 2, 2021 in Las Vegas. Ruggs was released by the Raiders immediately after the incident, and in August 2023, received a three-to-10-year prison sentence.
Per ESPN, police reported that Ruggs was driving 156 MPH before his Chevrolet Corvette Stingray rear-ended Tintor’s Toyota RAV4, killing the driver and her dog. His blood alcohol content was said to be 0.16, more than twice the legal limit.
Speaking on “The Pivot Podcast”, Josh Jacobs discussed the fateful night and how he was awfully close to being with Ruggs on the night of the horrific accident:
“The sad part about it was, we talked about going out that night. It wasn’t that crazy, we went to Top Golf…He literally told me, he was like, ‘Man, you coming?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’mma go.’ It got late, I’m like, ‘Man I’m not going to step…And then I’m getting woken up to my lawyers calling me..’Tell Ruggs we got him, we gonna represent him.”‘
Jacobs said he then found out the tragic news on social media. Devastated and stunned, Jacobs went to Ruggs’ home and spoke to people close to the wideout, calling his teammate “the breadwinner of the family.”
Josh Jacobs was supposed to go out with Henry Riggs on the night he was arrested. @iAM_JoshJacobs feels Tina Tintor’s death should’ve been avoided, & Henry Ruggs could be free. In his anger Jacobs expressed as much to Rugged’ family!

The 2022 rushing champion also said Ruggs is “a good kid” who was involved in “a very, very unfortunate decision.” Jacobs still talks regularly to Ruggs and his family, saying that the 2020 first-round pick remains “positive” despite the crushing circumstances.
Jacobs and Ruggs were on the 2017 Alabama team that won the national championship, defeating Georgia 26-23 in an overtime thriller. In that game, Ruggs caught three passes for 29 yards and a touchdown.
The Raiders selected Jacobs 24th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, and Ruggs was taken one year later at No. 12 overall. Ruggs appeared in 20 NFL games before the fatal car accident that led to his release.
