Commanders owner Josh Harris took out a full page in today’s @washingtonpost to write a letter to fans.

Sixers fans are all over this, obviously. “Has Josh Harris ever done this after a tough Sixers playoff exit?” No. He has not. We’re also not aware of any kind of New Jersey Devils ad in The Star-Ledger, but Harris may not know that he owns the Devils, and who gives a fuck about them anyway?

So on one hand, it’s the optics thing we’ve been talking about. It makes it look like Harris cares more about the Commanders than the Sixers. Maybe that’s true, maybe not, but it certainly seems like the basketball team is second or third fiddle at this moment in time. Philly sports fans are big on optics, even though this has no bearing on the amount of resources allocated to the Sixers and whether or not they have what they need to win (spoiler: they do).

On the other hand, are we going to get upset every time Harris farts into the wind? Seems so. And Philly sports fans are probably justified in feeling that way. They just want to have some assurance that the owner of the basketball team cares about the team and prioritizes the team. They don’t want to be some discarded toy that your kid no longer plays with. It’s like the Washington Commanders are Buzz Lightyear and the Philadelphia 76ers are Woody the pull-string Cowboy doll. Josh Harris is Andy Davis.
