Josh Allen stats: Buffalo Bills QB sets career high in sacks taken vs Texans
Buffalo Rumblings Buffalo Rumblings

In 2024, Josh Allen was sacked 14 times total. On Thursday night, Josh Allen was sacked seven times. Not only was it half of his entire 2024 sacks total, Allen was sacked more times in this game than against any opponent in his entire career.

Allen’s previous high in sacks taken was years ago. In 2018, he was sacked seven times by the Green Bay Packers in a 22-0 rout. In 2020, the Seattle Seahawks brought him down seven times, too, but Allen was incredibly efficient in the game and Buffalo won 44-34. That games is the only time in his career where Allen has been sacked five or more times and still managed a W.

To be fair to Allen, Spencer Brown played injured for a good chunk of this game and Ryan Vandemark was in the game at both left tackle and right tackle as a result. Even right guard O’Cyrus Torrence played some snaps injured.

Will Anderson totaled 2.5 sacks for the Texans as he continues to build a great resume in his limited time in the NFL. Danielle Hunter contributed 2 sacks. Henry To’oTo’o, Derek Barnett, and former Bills DT Tim Settle all added one sack with Mario Edwards adding the last half-sack.

The Texans entered the game with the only du in the NFL over seven sacks and leave with the only du in the NFL over nine sacks.

Houston was the top-rated defense against both the run and the pass in 2025 and they certainly played like it Thursday.

I got to say it was a lot more fun talking about Josh Allen breaking touchdown records last week than sack records.
