Everybody knows that Johnny Manziel and the Cleveland Browns never really got along, for various reasons, and Manziel has been very outspoken about why over the past few years. Now, he discussed what could have happened if Cleveland never traded up to take him at pick 22 in the 2014 NFL Draft.
On a recent episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Manziel divulged that another AFC team could’ve selected him if former Browns GM Ray Farmer didn’t trade up to get him:
“Going into the draft we felt like our floor was 23—I think Andy Reid really liked me and that’s where I would’ve gone had the Browns not traded up one spot ahead.”
Manziel’s career has always been one of the biggest “what if” scenarios in NFL history, and it really would have been interesting to see how he would’ve performed in a more stable organization like Kansas City.
He would’ve had Jamaal Charles at running back, Dwayne Bowe at wide receiver (though he also flamed out in Cleveland), and Travis Kelce at tight end, along with working under one of the top offensive minds in the game in Andy Reid.
Despite all of this, he likely wouldn’t have gotten far with the type of attitude he had both on and off the field.
