John Schneider: ‘I don’t know’ if Tyler Lockett will be a Seahawk in 2025
Field Gulls Field Gulls

Lockett has been a fan favorite in Seattle since he burst onto the scene with a punt return for a touchdown in his first career game, but cap issues could bring his time with the team to an end this offseason.

September will mark ten years since Tyler Lockett went 57 yards for a touchdown on the first ever punt return of his NFL career.

However, between age cutting into his production and the Seattle Seahawks facing a salary cap squeeze, it could also mark the first season for the Hawks without Lockett since 2014, and when queried about the matter at the 2025 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, John Schneider provided a very sobering answer.

Lockett is set to count a whopping $30.895M against the cap in 2025, and fans and observers across the league have tabbed him as a potential cap casualty following the least productive season of his career and the emergence of second year receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

With Seattle likely needing to clear several million worth of cap space, and a release or trade of Lockett presenting $17M worth of cap savings, it’s obvious why Schneider is non-committal regarding whether Lockett will be with the team in 2025.
