John Harbaugh would have still been the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens had it not been for a missed field goal.
Had Tyler Loop managed to keep his attempt a little more to the left, NFL teams wouldn’t be reconsidering their entire coaching staff right now.
Harbaugh is a wanted man at the moment. Not only is he considered to be the top candidate for all teams with head coach vacancies, even teams with filled positions are also thought to be in the race.
The Ravens dismissed Harbaugh after he failed to take them to the playoffs this season. But the failure has done little to diminish his status around the league.
He isn’t expected to be out of a job for long.
On the other hand, his rumored demands might scare teams off.
ESPN’s Tony Grossi reported this week that the 63-year-old is looking for at least $20 million a year from his next team. Grossi added that Harbaugh wants a $10 million staff budget and total authority over his roster.
But get this, he also wants to pick his own general manager.
Basically, Harbaugh wants total control over his next team. That definitely wouldn’t fly with most coaching candidates. But John Harbaugh is one of the few coaches who’s likely to have such demands met.
Meanwhile, the former Ravens HC is said to have a preferred destination in mind.
