The Washington Commanders are 2-2 and coming off a loss to the Atlanta Falcons. They played from behind for most of the game, and the defense looked confused and outmatched. Defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. has been a big topic of discussion this week, and calls for him to be replaced have been growing in the fanbase. Whitt was brought over from the Dallas Cowboys when Dan Quinn was hired as head coach, and given his first coordinator job.

Whitt said the team is looking for more consistency, and they’ve been playing too much sloppy football. Players got greedy last week, looking to force turnovers and make big plays on a defense that came into last week lacking both. He wants players to focus on their jobs, and not put their capes on. Communication pre- and post-snap has been an issue all season, and is something Whitt seems to talk about every week, going back to last season.

Whitt praised Frankie Luvu’s performance vs the Falcons, and said he was the one guy who played well against them. Luvu’s been used to rush the passer more, and Whitt said his time is coming to make big plays against the QB.

No restrictions on Jayden Daniels:

Jayden’s a unique talent. The way he plays, moves, throws, he’s generational. So any time you get him back out there, it’s going to lift up your team.

Mobile QBs protecting themselves:

It’s instinctive. Guys like him and Kyler, they played that way their entire life. They know how to protect themselves. They know where to find the soft spot.
