TikTok has firmly cemented itself as the social media platform of choice for the internet’s most influential tastemakers. However, there are plenty of people who don’t really get the appeal—including Joe Flacco, who made it very clear he has no plans to hop aboard a bandwagon that’s partially powered by the dancing he railed against during a fantastic rant.

There’s nothing you can do to combat the inevitable passage of time, and most people will eventually reach a point where they accept that they’re Officially Washed after realizing they no longer have their finger on the pulse of what’s popular with The Cool Kids.

Those moments can come in many shapes and forms, like realizing you can’t stand a popular song that’s topping the charts, visibly recoiling against a fashion trend that’s all the rage with younger generations, or deciding you have no interest in signing up for the latest social media platform to take the world by storm.

That’s what TikTok did at the end of the 2010s en route to becoming the premier platform for Gen Z, the demographic that’s now primarily responsible for dictating online trends.

Nathan Fielder once described TikTok as a “children’s dancing app,” and while that’s both a facetious and partial summation of what it’s used for, it also does a pretty good job summing up its essence.

It sure seems like Joe Flacco would agree with that assessment based on what he had to say while chatting with the media at training camp on Thursday, as the Browns QB admitted he’s in too deep when it comes to Instagram but has absolutely no interest in chasing clout on TikTok.

Here’s what he had to say (the segment in question kicks off at the 1:25 mark in the video):

“No TikTok dances. The fact that people want to get on their phones and show people—that’s embarrassing. You’re an adult. Be an adult. I can’t wrap my head around that.

I get it; you have kids and you want to have fun with your kids. Have fun with your kids in private, you know? That’s what I think.”

Preach.
